This month we’re bringing the work of artists into the spotlight, and you’re invited to be part of the celebration.
BC Achievement is hosting two special evenings at the Roundhouse Exhibition Hall in Vancouver: the Sam Carter Award in Applied Art + Design reception on November 19 and the Polygon Award in First Nations Art dinner on November 24.
Each event offers a chance to discover exceptional talent, connect with BC’s creative community, and hear firsthand from the artists whose work is making an impact.
Applied art and design are all around us, often in ways we don’t immediately recognize. From the furniture we live with to the objects we use every day, thoughtful design can transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.
The Sam Carter Award in Applied Art + Design celebrates artists and designers who bring together creative vision and exceptional skill. Their work invites us to look closer and appreciate the ingenuity behind the things we sometimes take for granted.
And why stop at one celebration?
On November 24, we invite you back to the Roundhouse for the Polygon Award in First Nations Art dinner and award ceremony.
This special evening honours First Nations artists whose work reflects the richness of their cultures while contributing to the evolving landscape of art in BC. Through their artistic practices, recipients carry forward cultural knowledge and explore new forms of expression.
At these award ceremonies, you’ll have the opportunity to meet this year’s award recipients and experience their remarkable work firsthand through an art exhibition and a short film highlighting their creative journey.
They are both wonderful evening for anyone who appreciates creativity, whether you’re part of the arts community or simply enjoy discovering something new.
There’s also something special about being in the room when artists are recognized for their achievements. Hearing their stories in their own words and sharing in the excitement alongside their families and peers makes these events memorable.
We hope you’ll join us for both!
Explore the Exhibition. Admission Is Free!
From November 17 to 24, the Roundhouse Exhibition Hall will host a free public exhibition featuring work by recipients of both award programs.
Bring a friend, explore the exhibition, and share what inspires you.
Know Someone Remarkable? Nominate Them!
As we celebrate this year’s award recipients, we’re also looking ahead to the remarkable people whose stories have yet to be told.
Through our annual Recognize Remarkable campaign, BC Achievement invites British Columbians to help shine a light on individuals whose achievements deserve greater recognition.
Often, it starts with someone like you.
Think about the artists and designers in your community whose talent and dedication deserve to be celebrated. They may be established leaders in their field or emerging talents whose work is beginning to make an impact.
