Cathryn Wilson
Chief Executive Officer
Biography
With over 20 years of leadership and consulting experience in BC’s arts and social profit sectors, Cathryn is dedicated to community engagement, supporting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action and, is a passionate advocate for women in leadership. Since 2015, she has led BC Achievement, guiding its storytelling initiatives to honour individuals and organizations making a lasting impact across the province.
Cathryn believes strongly in recognition as a tool for inspiring change and leads the foundation as a mission-driven organization. Her career includes key development roles at UBC, the BC Cancer Foundation, Elektra Women’s Choir, and managing an independent communications practice. A graduate of Western University, Cathryn began her public service career at the Ontario Provincial Legislature and the federal House of Commons. In August 2024, she was honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal from the Honourable Janet Austin, 30th Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.

Rup Grewal
Communications & Program Director
Biography
As the Communications and Program Director, Rup leads foundation communications strategies for all five programs and delivers province-wide award programs to celebrate First Nations art and applied art and design. Rup’s appreciation for art and culture was born in the vibrant cultures of India, which drives her to advocate for the arts and for those voices which have been historically underrepresented.
Rup’s work has immersed her in the world of professional communications, project management and advocating for the arts and for women’s wellness. She currently produces and moderates the award-winning Avaaz podcast, a forum for South Asian women’s health. Rup also serves as Treasurer of Arts BC, serving to define and advance community arts and culture development.

Angela Marston
Program Director,
Indigenous Business Award
Biography
Angela (Statu Stsuhwum) is the Program Director for the Indigenous Business Award and a member from Stz’uminus First Nation. She has worked with organizations such as First Peoples’ Cultural Council, Emily Carr University, and the University of Victoria. While in these roles she supported First Nation communities, artists and organizations across the province.
Angela is also a co-founder of the Four Salish Winds Arts and Education Society; an Indigenous led society that promotes cultural awareness, language revitalization, traditional art practices and mentoring Indigenous youth.
Angela’s artistic contribution to her Coast Salish culture has been recognized by Canada Council for the Arts, The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and the National Gallery of Canada. She was also a recipient of the Audain Fellowship with the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.

Kristin McDougall
Operations Manager & Program Director, Community Award
Biography
Kristin serves as the Operations Manager and Program Director for BC Achievement’s Community Award Program. Her leadership extends into Vancouver’s arts and cultural community, as a board member for the Eastside Arts Society. She has previously served on the boards of Inverso Productions, Jericho Baseball and the Kitsilano Parent Advisory Council (PAC), where she championed initiatives to support emerging artists, young athletes and students.
Her global perspective was shaped by living in Italy, where she deepened her appreciation for the arts. Her experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) honed her communication skills and ability to foster meaningful connections. Kristin’s early foundation in dance ignited a lifelong passion for supporting creative expression and community engagement.
