What a Night! Celebrating Indigenous Business Excellence at the 18th Annual IBA Gala

What an incredible evening celebrating Indigenous business excellence in British Columbia!

The 18th annual Indigenous Business Award (IBA) Gala at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver was a night to remember. The ballroom was buzzing with conversation as guests gathered to celebrate this year’s outstanding award recipients. There was great food, plenty of opportunity to connect, and an unmistakable sense of pride in the room.

But what made the evening truly special were the people we came to honour.

Celebrating Bold Ideas and Remarkable Achievements

This year’s award recipients are doing extraordinary things. They’re pushing boundaries, challenging long-held narratives, and bringing fresh thinking to industries across British Columbia. Their businesses are creating meaningful economic opportunities while making a lasting difference in their communities.

What stands out about these entrepreneurs is not simply what they have accomplished, but how they are choosing to do business.

Their success is grounded in a deep respect for the teachings of Elders and the generations who came before them. That knowledge continues to shape how they lead, the decisions they make, and the futures they are building. At the same time, they are boldly embracing innovation and finding new ways to grow.

It’s a powerful combination, and one that is helping reshape the business landscape in BC.

The Stories Behind the Success

The most inspiring moments of the evening came when the awardees took to the stage.

As each recipient accepted their award, we heard personal reflections on their journeys, the people who believed in them, and what their achievements mean to their communities.

There was humility in their words, but also tremendous determination. Their remarks reminded us that behind every successful business is a story of perseverance, hard work, and the courage to pursue something bigger.

These are the stories that stay with us long after the evening ends.

As one guest shared:

“What an inspiring evening! You come here to celebrate business success, but you leave with a much deeper appreciation for the people behind these businesses and the incredible difference they’re making. It’s impossible not to feel optimistic about the future.”

Connections That Matter

Of course, the IBA Gala is also about bringing people together.

With more than 600 guests in attendance, the evening offered a wonderful opportunity for networking and building relationships across BC’s Indigenous and broader business communities.

Conversations flowed well beyond the formal program. New introductions were made, old friendships renewed, and ideas exchanged. There’s something special about being in a room filled with people who recognize the importance of Indigenous entrepreneurship and want to see it thrive.

And that’s part of what makes this annual celebration so meaningful. Recognition creates visibility, but it also opens doors.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the evening, we’re reminded why BC Achievement Foundation established the Indigenous Business Award program: to shine a light on remarkable Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses whose leadership is strengthening our province.

Their achievements deserve to be celebrated, and their stories deserve to reach far beyond the ballroom.

To this year’s award recipients, congratulations. Thank you for showing us what’s possible when bold thinking meets a strong sense of purpose.

And to our sponsors, partners, and everyone who joined us, thank you for helping make this celebration possible.

What a night, and what a future for Indigenous business in BC!
