In 2017 Founder/CEO Nicole McLaren launched Raven Reads – a subscription box service that delivers custom, curated books and giftware written or created by Indigenous people from around the world. Born from a desire to educate others about the devastating impact of residential schools on Indigenous people in Canada, Raven Reads aims to create a safe space for dialogue while providing opportunities to learn about other cultures and history. Raven Reads has distributed over 5,000 books written by Indigenous authors and has become a trusted brand that supports other Indigenous entrepreneurs by purchasing directly from the source. What began as a book club has grown into a successful Indigenous owned business with over 800 subscribers.
