Story of Land, Leadership and Resilience – Tea Creek

Jacob Beaton, founder of Tea Creek and a 2009 Indigenous Business Award recipient, continues to turn his entrepreneurial vision into meaningful opportunities for Indigenous communities.

Since its beginnings as a family farm, Tea Creek has grown into an award-winning, Indigenous-led, land-based training initiative focused on food sovereignty, trades training, employment, and community empowerment. Jacob’s work has helped hundreds of people build skills, confidence, and connections to the land.

Jacob’s journey and the story of Tea Creek are now being shared on the big screen in the documentary Tea Creek. Directed by Ryan Dickie and produced by Ben Cox, the film follows Jacob and the Tea Creek team as they work to revitalize Indigenous food sovereignty while navigating the challenges of climate change, colonial history, and building a resilient future.

The film is now available to watch for free on CBC Gem, offering viewers an opportunity to learn more about Jacob’s vision and the people behind Tea Creek.

Congratulations to Jacob and the entire Tea Creek team on sharing this important story with audiences across Canada!
