4 Generations Creations Uplifts Indigenous Identity and Community

4 Generations Creations, founded by Secwepemc artist and entrepreneur Ashley Michel in 2013, is a vibrant expression of culture, creativity, and community. Based in Kamloops, the business offers both in-store and online shopping, with Ashley also travelling to powwows and events across Canada and the United States. In 2023, she opened a storefront that now supports more than 40 Indigenous artists, creating a welcoming space where tradition and entrepreneurship come together.

A self-taught seamstress, Ashley launched 4 Generations Creations to provide her daughter—and others—with authentic Indigenous representation. Rooted in the teachings of her matriarchs, the business offers ribbon skirt kits, fabrics, beadwork, and apparel that celebrate identity and cultural pride. Each piece is crafted with intention and respect, blending traditional knowledge with contemporary design. Through her work, Ashley honours the past while empowering the next generation of Indigenous artists and makers.
