Remarkable Achievements begin with Recognition: BC Achievement Foundation invites nominations for 2026 award programs

xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ, (Tsleil-Waututh) / Vancouver, BC (January 6, 2026): Remarkable achievements are happening every day in communities across British Columbia. The BC Achievement Foundation invites British Columbians to help bring these stories to light by nominating outstanding individuals, organizations, and businesses for its 2026 award programs.

Through its annual Recognize Remarkable campaign, BC Achievement celebrates excellence, leadership, creativity, and impact — honouring those whose dedication strengthens communities, advances reconciliation, and inspires others to imagine what’s possible.

“Recognizing individuals for their excellence in community service ensures that good work continues. There are dozens of unsung heroes quietly changing lives and landscapes in physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural ways,” said Debra Rogers, 2025 Community Award recipient.

Nominations are open for all five BC Achievement award programs:

  • Community Award
  • BC Reconciliation Award
  • Indigenous Business Award
  • Polygon First Nations Art Award
  • Sam Carter Applied Art + Design Award

Achievement is more than individual success — it is the lasting impact of vision, perseverance, and purpose. “Teaching them [youth] about business, being an example of what can be possible, showing them that there are possibilities. I think that the work that we’re all trying to do here today is very important in showing our young people that they can be this too.” Salish Soils, 2025 Indigenous Business Award recipient.

BC Achievement amplifies stories that spark dialogue, build understanding, and encourage positive change. “In order for the world to be different, people need to know our truths, and truth comes before reconciliation,” said Phyllis Webstad, 2024 BC Reconciliation Award recipient.

For more than two decades, BC Achievement has recognized individuals and organizations whose work shapes British Columbia’s social, cultural, and economic landscape. Their stories — shared province-wide — serve as inspiration for future leaders, creators, and changemakers. “Receiving this award is an incredible recognition. I think a lot about those endless hours, those endless days where I’ve been dreaming of materialising this vision of doing something that I absolutely love. And to be recognized in such way, it just fills me with new, renovated motivation to keep going.” said Mario Pao, 2025 Sam Carter Applied Art + Design Award recipient.

BC Achievement Foundation encourages communities, businesses, and individuals across the province to participate by nominating those whose contributions deserve wider recognition.

“It has been such an incredible honour that is still sinking in. A big part of the process is seeing my work the way others see it, to be recognized and validated within this community has been deeply meaningful.” said Rebecca Baker-Grenier 2025 Polygon First Nations Art Award recipient.
